Surrealism

I combined 7 different photos into one to make a surrealistic photograph. I used a lot of layer masks to combine parts of the image. With the japanese writing on the flower I used a blending mode. I also adjusted the color / saturation / contrast on a few of the photos.

Composite

With this assignment we were supposed to use a layer mask and either a blending tool or gradient. I decided to use a fun colored gradient. All I did was blend the photos, did a color selection, found a blending tool that worked well the photo and did the gradient. Also, I took out a part of the tree at the top of the photo.

Gaussian Blur

This is one of my "Theme" photos. I used the Gaussian Blur on this photo to make my friend, Jake, stand out more.

POP art portrait c:

In this photo: Sara Villa
In this assignment, we were supposed to take a photo that we had taken from the lighting assignment, and make a pop art portrait from it. We cropped the picture down, erased the back ground, took out saturation, and added some fun colors! The color schemes I used were Monochromatic, Triadic, Complimentary, and Analogous.

Adjustments and Border

The process that was used to create this image was actually very simple. First when I was about to take the picture I changed the ISO to 200 and then white balance to sunny because it was bright outside. After taking the picture, I used photoshop to adjust the lighting even more. First I changed the consrast and brightness. The picture was originally a little dark, so I wanted to lighten it up a little by increasing the consrast and brightness. I then decided to increase the exposure by just a small amount. After I decided I liked how the picture looked, I put in the border. First I chose how thick I wanted the border to be. I then smoothed the border to about 40 PPI. I also thought that a feathered border would look nice, so i added that. I chose to make my border a sky blue because I thought it would be appropriate with the setting that the picture was taken in.

There are many strengths and weaknesses to this photo. I think a strength would be the colors in the photo. There is an aray of dark and light colors. I also really like how the blue of the border fits so well the sky that the cat is looking at. some weakness in the photo are that the original photo was a little dark. It made working with it a little difficult. Another weakness with this photo would have to be that there isn't much composition being used. I think that using the law of thirds would have made this picture look better. What suprised me was how much fun I had creating this image and all the fun things i could do to change it.

Artist Statement c:

HELLO! C:
Thanks for reading.

I create art because it allows me to express myself when I can not, or chose to not do it verbally. It’s also something that can be very fun. Photography allows you to see the beauty in things you may not have been able to see before, and to me, that’s just a great thing. People tend to be very shallow and when it comes to photography, being shallow is something that doesn’t come very easily.
The things that inspire me are music and my family. Music is another art that I really enjoy doing, whether it is playing the guitar, singing, or writing lyrics. It’s just another way to express myself without having to open up too much. Music is such a beautiful and meaningful thing, and I believe that many people take it for granted. Family is very inspirational to me. I love everything about my family. They have helped mold me into the person that I am today, and without them I wouldn’t be here. I like to show these inspirations in my work by creating a sense of community, togetherness, and fun.

The type of work that I have made so far is just taking pictures for fun. I take many pictures when I am hanging out with my friends, when I go on vacation, for birthday, for fun adventures, and just for those random goofy times. C: The only other type of work I have made so far is the pictures I have taken for photography one. The type of work I would like to make this semester is something that everyone can relate to. Something that people can look at and just say, “Whoa...”
